On August 28, 2008 at approximately 10:25 pm, an explosion at the Bayer CropScience plant in Charleston, West Virginia killed one worker and injured a second.
Apparently, the explosion sent a fireball hundreds of feet into the air and could be felt miles away. The blast occurred in a section of the plant where waste products are treated before disposal, Bayer spokesman Mike Wey said.
Fortunately, six people out of the eight person crew remain uninjured.
